Date Posted: 11 June, 2021We originally ordered a different Galleria rustic oak flooring which when it arrived was significantly darker than the corresponding sample so we decided to return it and order this one instead. The delivery was prompt and the new flooring was more true to its sample so we were initially happy.

The problem came when my builder started to open the new flooring boxes. For every single one of the 28 boxes that he opened, at least one third of the boards in each box had one or more warped tongue and groove edges, which prevented them from fitting alongside their fellow 'good' planks.

We reported the quality issue to UK flooring direct and they did eventually offer to send out more boxes of flooring if needed. In the meantime, however, because the incomplete flooring was holding up other trades on our project, the builder pressed ahead with the installation and 'made do'. The builder and his labourer subsequently spent time painstakingly sifting through each individual board. Many planks were completely unusable. A few sections were salvageable when significantly cut down for edges and in hidden areas. Luckily this was possible for us because I had over-ordered, Thank goodness, there was JUST enough good material to complete the floor but there was also an OBSCENE amount of wastage.

I should have had at least five full boxes remaining to return for refund, which were all inevitably opened and used to make up for the damaged planks. At no point was I offered any discount for the rubbish flooring quality, nor any refund for the five+ boxes of extra wastage. In fact, after the sale was made, customer services never bothered to respond to ANY of the emails we sent them about the various administrative and quality issues we experienced with both flooring orders.

I am being generous and giving this product two stars because I do like the appearance of the wood veneer on the flooring and it did come quickly. However, ultimately the incredibly poor quality of the boards raised my flooring costs significantly above budget, both for the 20-25% wasted material (!), and for two days extra labour during installation, so avoid, avoid, AVOID!
